TarCCM Archiver v1.1
Copyright (c) 2007 by LovePimple

DESCRIPTION

The TarCCM Archiver is a freeware program which is designed to work as a "Send To" interface (STI) for the CCM file compressor. The STI allows you to compress or decompress files/folders to/from a Tarred CCM (.tccm) archive in one very quick and easy "Send To" operation.

How it works:

The compression mode uses 7-Zip OR the 7-Zip Command Line Version (7za.exe) to create a temporary ".tar" file which it then compresses with CCM as a ".tccm" (Tarred CCM) archive.

The decompression mode uses CCM to first decompress the ".tar" file. It then uses 7-Zip OR the 7-Zip Command Line Version (7za.exe) to extract all file(S)/folders from the temporary ".tar" file.

All ".tar" files are deleted after compression/decompression operation is complete.

REQUIREMENTS

This program requires Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista operating system with a copy of the CCM file compressor present in a folder anywhere in the path (e.g. C:\Windows\).

The program also requires that you have a copy of the 7-Zip archiver installed OR a copy of the 7-Zip Command Line Version (7za.exe) present in a folder anywhere in the path.

"SEND TO" INSTALL

1. Create a new folder in "Program Files" with a name something like "FC_STI".

2. Copy the "TarCCM.exe" executable to the folder you have created.

3. Create a shortcut in the Windows "Send To" folder to the "C:\Program Files\FC_STI\TarCCM.exe".

4. Rename the shortcut to something like "CCM Archiver".

"DRAG AND DROP" INSTALL

1. Follow steps 1 and 2 above if you have not already done so.

2. Create a shortcut to "C:\Program Files\FC_STI\TarCCM.exe" on the desktop to compress (or decompress) by drag and drop.

3. Rename the shortcut to something like "CCM Archiver".

4. Associate ".tccm" files with "C:\Program Files\FC_STI\CCM_STI.exe" to decompress files by double click.

*NOTES*

You need to have "Show hidden files and folders" enabled to be able to see the "Send To" folder.

The Windows Vista "Send To" folder is located in "C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo" (Replace <user> with correct user name).

The Windows XP/2003 "Send To" folder is located in "C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\SendTo\" (Replace <user> with correct user name).

The Windows 98/ME "Send To" folder is located in "C:\WINDOWS\SendTo\".

This program is designed to work with CCM version 1.26b or later.

The program will automatically use any copy of the 7-Zip archiver that is found to be installed at its default location ("C:\Program Files\7-Zip") or added to the path.

ABOUT THE CCM FILE COMPRESSOR

CCM is a general purpose symmetric file-to-file compressor with good compression ratio. It uses a fast and simple context mixing algorithm. Additionally, it uses some data filters.

CCM is written by Christian Martelock.

ABOUT THE 7-Zip ARCHIVER

7-Zip is an open source file archiver designed originally for the Microsoft Windows operating system, and later made available to other systems. In the form of p7zip, 7-Zip has been ported for use on Unix-like systems such as Linux and FreeBSD. It is also compatible with DOS via either a DOS port, or by using the HX-DOS extender to run the Windows command-line version.

7-Zip operates primarily with 7z archive format, as well as being able to read several other archive formats. In operation a user is free to use command line (all systems), graphical user interface ("Windows" only) or seamless MS Windows shell environment methods of control.

7-Zip began in 2000 and is actively developed by Igor Pavlov. It is distributed under the terms of GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL). As free software the program is free to share and comes with modifiable source code in contrast to the market-leading programs WinZip and WinRAR, which remain as proprietary competitors. Note that 7-Zip still uses a proprietary plugin to read RAR archives.
